NYPD Brags About Weed Bust That Business Owner Says Is Just Hemp

“Precision policing and relentless follow-up” is how the New York Police Department characterized a recent marijuana bust it bragged about. But the business owner caught up in the case begs to differ, saying the cops simply have legal hemp on their hands. […]

What’s more, the packages apparently had been inspected by law enforcement authorities in Vermont before the NYPD’s seizure. A report from the Williston Police Department in that state said it was alerted by FedEx about a possible marijuana shipment.

“Both boxes contained paperwork explaining the shipper as a registered VT Cannabis Hemp grower,” said an officer’s report obtained by HuffPost. “I advised the company that this does appear to be Legal Hemp and not Marijuana and the police was not going to seize it.”

By the way, that “precision policing and relentless follow-up” is apparently getting a call from FedEx and arresting people without yet having tested the merchandise.

Since posting about the experience on Instagram and talking to media outlets, Levy said he’s received an outpouring of support and that he plans to take legal action against FedEx and the NYPD.

“They know they fucked up,” he said.

    I’ve got to admit that I’m enjoying every minute of Sen. McConnell’s humiliation. Who the heck would have predicted that it would be he who got cannabis to de facto decriminalization almost nationwide?     November 14, 2019 — Binge drinking among U.S. adolescents precipitously declined from 1991 to 2018, according to a new study at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. Depressive symptoms among U.S. adolescents have sharply increased since 2012. And for the first time in the past 40 years, binge drinking and depressive symptoms among adolescents are no longer associated. The findings are published online in the Journal of Adolescent Health.

Our results suggest that we need to be re-thinking the connections between mental health and alcohol among young people,” said Katherine M.       The United Nations philatelic contribution to drug hysteria includes an amazing array of drug war propaganda tools in the form of pictures on sticky little pieces of paper.

      I own a 1918 espionage forgery stamp minted in the US and designed to target Germany. Counterfeit or fake stamps were used to sow fear in the enemy civilian population. Some included authentic looking German stamps except for a tiny skull-and-crossbones embedded in the stamp’s artwork. The idea that the enemy had infiltrated the methodical and otherwise ever-reliable German postal system was guaranteed to wear on the Germans’ sense of security.

      Too little too late. It won’t work to preserve the US drug war.

    DMT study reveals more about how the psychedelic drug affects the human brain:

    19-NOV-2019 — DMT is a naturally occurring chemical found in miniscule amounts in the human brain but also in larger amounts in a number of plant species around the world.

    Accounts from people who have taken DMT report intense visual hallucinations often accompanied by strong emotional experiences and even ‘breakthroughs’ into what users describe as an alternate reality or dimension.

    But scientists are interested in using the powerful psychoactive compound for research as it produces relatively short but intense psychedelic experiences, providing a window for collecting data on brain activity when consciousness is profoundly altered.

    Analysis revealed that DMT significantly altered electrical activity in the brain, characterised by a marked drop off in alpha waves – the human brain’s dominant electrical rhythm when we are awake. They also found a short-lived increase in brainwaves typically associated with dreaming, namely, theta waves.

    In addition to changes in the types of brainwaves, they also found that, overall, brain activity became more chaotic and less predictable – the opposite to what is seen in states of reduced consciousness, such as in deep sleep or under general anaesthesia.

    “The changes in brain activity that accompany DMT are slightly different from what we see with other psychedelics, such as psilocybin or LSD, where we see mainly only reductions in brainwaves,” said lead author Christopher Timmermann, from the Centre for Psychedelic Research.

    “Here we saw an emergent rhythm that was present during the most intense part of the experience, suggesting an emerging order amidst the otherwise chaotic patterns of brain activity. From the altered brainwaves and participants’ reports, it’s clear these people are completely immersed in their experience – it’s like daydreaming only far more vivid and immersive, it’s like dreaming but with your eyes open.” […]

The Vice President of the United States admitted he doesn’t drink homogenized milk because the word sounds awfully suspicious. Pence stated the idea of putting anything with that prefix – homo – up to his lips is an abomination to the LORD:

    God made Adam and Eve and not Adam and Steve. In the same way, the LORD separated the heavenly waters from the earthly ones; he naturally made cream and milk separate. Forcing milk and cream to combine is like gay marriage. It’s unnatural.

    Homogenization?

    Homogenization is the process where milk’s fat molecules are broken down so that they stay mixed in milk. Otherwise, those fat molecules would coalesce at the top of the container, leaving a layer of cream resting on skim milk. Torrington, Connecticut was the first place to mass-produce homogenized milk in 1919. However, there are still some of us who are old enough to remember a time when the milkman delivered non-homogenized milk on doorsteps.

    “It was a simpler time. A time when men were men. Women were women. And no one worried about their milk being gay,” Pence reflected.

      I’m getting over my reticence to enjoy the schadenfreude I get from the inability of these cretins to see that they’re being ignored by the population. I know just how it feels from my 5 years with NORML. Well they had us on the ropes in the early 1990s but it turns out that George Bush the 41st made a fatal error in closing the Federal compassionate IND.

    5-DEC-2019 – In a new study published in Cell Reports, a team of scientists in Japan, led by Prof Kozo Kaibuchi and Dr Yasuhiro Funahashi from Nagoya University, has identified a novel protein function involved in the reward circuit of the brain. They based their study on the fact that dopamine, when released in the brain, activates several proteins in response, and these proteins then cause certain changes in brain activity, such as reward-related gene expression and changes in nerve transmission or plasticity. But, how these changes happen at the molecular level was not well understood. […]

    In a first for the scientific community, the group showed that a protein kinase called MAPK adds a phosphate group to Npas4 (a well-known intracellular process called phosphorylation, which “activates” proteins to carry out their functions), thereby facilitating its interaction with CBP. The scientists even identified the exact sites where MAPK phosphorylates Npas4. Moreover, they found that dopamine activates Npas4 in striatal medium spiny neurons, and so promotes the expression of genes related to “neural plasticity” (changes in neural connections). Thus, the three dopamine-stimulated proteins CBP, MAPK, and Npas4 interact with each other, leading to profound neural changes–Dr Funahashi and Prof Kaibuchi had unraveled a major mechanism of how dopamine affects the brain.

    To investigate the function of Npas4 in reward-related behavior, the scientists then “knocked out” or inactivated Npas4 in the reward circuit neurons of mice. These mice and normal mice learned to expect a cocaine reward in only one of two chambers, after which chamber preference was measured. Compared to normal mice, the Npas4-deficient mice showed a >50% reduction in drug-seeking behavior, indicating a significant reduction in reward memory. Importantly, the drug-seeking behavior was restored after exogenous administration of Npas4 but not by phospho-deficient mutants of Npas4. This was exciting, as it confirmed that Npas4 and its phosphorylation play an important role in reward-related behavior.

    These unprecedented findings by Prof Kaibuchi and his team shed some light on the pathways involved in the reward circuit of the brain. Faulty functioning of the reward circuit is seen in various neuropsychological and cognitive disorders. By explaining in detail, the function and reward-associated mechanism of Npas4, these scientists have paved the way for new, effective therapies. Talking about the applications of the study, Prof Kaibuchi says, “Our study can help develop treatments for neuropsychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia. It can also be useful in tackling addiction to or dependence on cocaine and other stimulants.”
