Documents: Feds allegedly allowed Sinaloa cartel to move cocaine into U.S. for information
U.S. federal agents allegedly allowed the Sinaloa drug cartel to traffic several tons of cocaine into the United States in exchange for information about rival cartels, according to court documents filed in a U.S. federal court.
The allegations are part of the defense of Vicente Zambada-Niebla, who was extradited to the United States to face drug-trafficking charges in Chicago. He is also a top lieutenant of drug kingpin Joaquin “Chapo” Guzman and the son of Ismael “Mayo” Zambada-Garcia, believed to be the brains behind the Sinaloa cartel.
The case could prove to be a bombshell on par with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ “Operation Fast and Furious,” except that instead of U.S. guns being allowed to walk across the border, the Sinaloa cartel was allowed to bring drugs into the United States. Zambada-Niebla claims he was permitted to smuggle drugs from 2004 until his arrest in 2009.
This is big. Not surprising. But big.
Of course, to the feds, letting several tons of cocaine into the U.S. is nothing. They know (as do we) that it’ll have almost no effect on supply, and if it’ll give them some big busts for the press, they’ll take that deal any day.
However, that reality doesn’t match the “getting drugs off the streets” message that the federal government dishes out to the media and the populace on a daily basis.
It also makes the theatre of their regular seizure photo-ops (not to mention the entire basis of the drug war) seem… disingenuous.
Oops.
I wouldn’t get too excited about this, as this is merely the defense strategy/allegation of a Mexican cartel member. If true, it is certainly big. But I’m not about to take something the cartels say at face value. FWIW…

Well that’s very sensible since the US government has been so upstanding, ethical, and doggone advocates of fair play and insuring the freedom promised us as our birthright for being born American. How the heck does anyone end up thinking that accusing our honorable civil servants with systemic corruption produced by undermining our rights protected by the Constitution would even be thought reasonable by the wacko conspiracy nutcakes? I’ve got a great idea, let’s all of us just voluntarily cede our freedom to help these heroic men and women who are doing the thankless work of guaranteeing profits for corporations, overtime pay for the police and prison guards, and diligently working to promote the loss of freedom for all, Americans and gibberish talking foreigners alike? I axe you, who could ever find fault with such people?

This is a big story, and the fact that it is being suppressed by the MSM in the US is a sign of that. The story was broken by Narco News over this past weekend. It then went nationwide in Mexico, with more than a 100 publications picking the story up on Monday and Tuesday, including all the majors: Proceso, La Jornada, Por Esto! among them.
And then, three going on four days later, a few US publications started picking up on it, but none of the big papers so far, and the one’s that did run with the story only scratched the surface or printed a few graphs. How is that possible?

And then draw your own conclusions as to whether this is just a “defense strategy” with no underlying truth to it, or maybe a bit more, a part of US history that we can’t seem to shed.

I thought LE had an exception to the CSA which allows them to work undercover. IIRC that exception was an integral part of Ed Rosenthal’s defense. Oakland had deputized him specifically to keep him legal. It didn’t work but it didn’t seem to me that it was because the exception doesn’t exist.
Earlier this year the Wall Street Journal did a piece about the Afghan opium trade, and the accompanying photo showed US soldiers armed to the teeth and in full Kevlar standing guard as farmers harvested their poppy crops. A good portion of that opium ended up as heroin on the streets of many of our major US cities.

Christ DC, not just Arizona but Governor Christie of New Jersey did a sudden about face within the last week as well. I really am looking forward to the Know Nothings’ reaction to this Feds action noted above. I have faith it’s going to be a dozy. In the 15th year of medicinal cannabis patient protection laws those people still haven’t been able to figure out why the SCOTUS or the POTUS hasn’t canceled the patient protection laws but are still confident that while it may take 40 years of trekking through the desert before it happens, but it will still happen sometime. Let’s not forget that the motto of the Know Nothing prohibitionist is “never let the facts stand in the way of disseminating an effective piece of hysterical rhetoric”. I think we’re in for some truly mind boggling rationalizations. Stuff so far out that it could only be invented by the Know Nothing prohibitionists. We CAN end this horrid war on individual freedom, we could get ourselves a president — Ron Paul — who WILL end the federal government’s war on drug(user)s in 2012 (half the war won by our side, right there). We COULD have this, provided most (all?) reformers change their registration to Republican for just this one presidential election cycle and vote for him in the primaries/caucuses and again in the general when he succeeds in getting the Republican nomination.
Gary Johnson is good (on drug legalization) but not nearly as popular (with people for whom reform of drug policies is not very high on their priority list) as Ron Paul happens to be (he’d be a great VP with Ron Paul as president), so we have a better chance of getting Ron Paul elected than we do Gary Johnson, because others would also vote for him for other reasons (his principles, his support for Constitutional government, for his understanding of the economy and monetary policies, because he is anti- undeclared war, because he is pro-freedom, etc.).
So, if reformers truly want to end the prohibition of certain drugs, Dr. Paul is the ONLY choice for 2012. If we miss this opportunity to elect an anti-prohibition president, it could be decades before we get another such opportunity.

This is effective because the judge was unable to see this one coming and didn’t silence the man. Judges in this country seem to think it is their job to decide what the truth is before the facts are presented, not after.
i checked the roster at thurston county jail yesterday and there was no dana walker listed. wonder where he is ? maybe they made an exception in his case. the guy sure has some guts. looks to me he would have no problems with his fellow inmates.
They can try, but as you said there is a different wind blowing across our great land these days, and the people (jury) might just make certain he goes free and the government is called out on unconstitutional law. One can hope, anyway.

he’s not in the pierce county jail either. maybe they just took him out in the woods and shot him. i think we are going to have a lot of that before the fascisti give up their grip on power. they are bound to think they can kill their way out of the clusterfuck they have bought into. didn’t work for hitler or mussolini. won’t work for our homegrown police state. they are doomed by simple logistics and economics. they can’t arrest every doper, let alone make them serve long sentences. the only real weapon the waffen dea has is psychological warfare. in other words they have to scare the population into being good little workers that don’t get high, but just work hard and kiss their bosses asses. that’s the true worker’s paradise, at least in henry ford’s vision.

I owe Thurston County over $3,000 for a marijuana charge from back in 1997. I am currently unemployed, I am not a fan of hot weather, and I wouldn’t mind at all spending a few weeks in jail just for the opportunity to tell a court where they can stick their laws.
If everyone throws a few shovels full of dirt into the cogs of the Machine then the Machine can’t function. If even a relatively insignificant number of criminal defendants demanded full jury trials and court-appointed attorneys and then refused to pay any fines then the entire prison-industrial complex would implode.
I am also fulfilling a psychological need to take back control of my life. I highly resent the fact that I have been forced by circumstance to kiss their evil asses for over a decade and I will now have my say. I am a keen patron of irony and I LOVE the fact that I am going to reclaim my freedom by going to jail.
And here is his court statement, which was read into the record, in its entirety:
I am an active and contributing member of my community and I have earned the respect and admiration of large numbers of the people in my community and I hate to admit it as it goes against my ‘outlaw’ image, but I even obey the traffic laws.
In spite of all this I now have four felony convictions and three misdemeanor convictions, all for marijuana; I have spent over six years of my life incarcerated in a federal prison and four years on federal probation over marijuana, and Thurston County now wants me to pay a fine of $2,010 for marijuana plus $1,754 in interest on that fine that was accrued as I sat in a federal prison all those years.
Since I have been smoking marijuana on a regular basis for over 40 years now and suffered no ill effects of any kind whatsoever that I am aware of, since I consider this state’s marijuana laws to be an unacceptable, unconstitutional, and outrageous infringement upon my personal liberty, since I love smoking marijuana and I intend to continue smoking marijuana at any time that I darned well please, and since making someone like me into a criminal over marijuana is insane and stupid; then today I am placing the State of Washington on notice that from this point forward I will not only never again pay the state to prosecute me for marijuana but that I intend to make it as expensive to prosecute me for marijuana as I possibly can — and since I have been in the system for a long time I know how to do that.
I would also like to point out that the feds had me under their thumb for over 10 years and they did not break me — and as of a few days ago I am no longer under that thumb. And so today I am celebrating and reclaiming my freedom by informing the state that since I will no longer pay your fines and since I no longer fear your jails then — as far as marijuana goes — you no longer have any power over me and that in fact the stick is now in my hand.
