OMG – Call the police! Call the press!

While I’m on the road (I’m currently in the Phoenix area), you guys in comments have been having an incredibly good discussion on really serious and important drug policy topics, but I don’t know how you could have missed this huge drug war story…

Housekeeper finds marijuana in hotel room, Ann Arbor police say

A housekeeper found a small quantity of marijuana hidden in a room at the Red Roof Inn at 3505 South State Street on Saturday morning, prompting an investigation by Ann Arbor police.

According to police spokeswoman Lt. Renee Bush, the housekeeper found the bag of marijuana at 10:30 a.m. and turned it over to a front desk employee, who called police.

Officers responded and confiscated the drugs, Bush said. The most recent guest in the room had already left, Bush said.

So far, no charges have been filed.

Thank goodness the Ann Arbor police were there to conduct an investigation and Lee Higgins was there to write the breaking story.

[Thanks, Logan]

You can hardly fault annarbor.com Evidently there’s a significant crime wave in their general vicinity. Does anyone really think that the media shouldn’t talk about it when their home town is just a hop, skip, and a jump away from falling into godless anarchy and allowing so called “medical” merryjewanna dispensaries?

Are there really people who think that living in an anarchy would be good for our children? How can you justify our children having to bear witness to a constant exposure to bestiality and perverted sex? They would all grow up smoking dope and having sex in the woods, and not just illicit hetero sex either. You heard right, petty crime is a gateway to high crimes and homos marrying their farm animals and before you know it everyone will be on welfare and having perverted sex with whoever or whatever. You may want to live in a world that looks like that but I don’t.

What about the sheep? Does no one care about what sheep would have to endure all because of your godless belief that bestiality is just a normal, alternative life style and that we shouldn’t be “judgmental” when some guy marries an armadillo? Just wait until an elephant decides that you or one of your loved ones is a sex object and I’ll bet you start singing a different song. How can anyone overlook how these poor animals are victims when you claim that merrywanna is a “victimless” crime and totally harmless?

(god help me I can’t post this without the disclaimer. I’m not convinced that there aren’t people who might actually think the above is meant seriously. Again, the absurdity detailed above is meant to be amusing and contains sarcasm, parody, and is intended to be an exercise in stupidity.)

KIRO in Seattle has mentioned in their news reports of an apartment fire which killed a man and his 4 children, that a neighbor reported that the man and his wife (who was the only one rescued from the fire) had been seen flicking ashes from a “marijuana cigarette” into a wastebasket the night before the fire. I haven’t yet caught the other local news on this incident to know if they are “reporting” that info, too, but it seems to me to be irrelevant to the fire, since ashes from a joint would not be hot enough upon hitting the wastebasket to cause a fire. Seems to me to be a case of demonizing the victims.

In Zandvoort, The Netherlands, I dropped a bud on the floor of my hotel room only to have the housekeeper find it and graciously place it on top of a desk where I found it when I returned that evening. That was great service.

Apparently, in Ann Arbor at the Red Roof Inn, we can expect a wayward bag of bud will be stolen and smoked by housekeeping, or turned over to cops who alert the local media, followed by the Michigan Gestapo hot on the cannabis culprit’s trail. That’s appalling service. It’s also completely insane.

  11. Tony Aroma says:

I found some marijuana in my hotel room on a trip I made to Canada a while back. I had no idea I should have called the authorities. Instead, I took it upon myself to incinerate it so that it didn’t fall into the wrong hands. I was just thinking of the children.

  12. Lies abound........! says:

Here is a story over at Alternet. I’ve been saying for long time that the war on drugs is connected to many things in government, just the 10% of the iceberg you can see. They dont just lie to us about cannabis or the drug war…its everything….other wars and dealing with other countries….whats going on here at home….

    http://www.alternet.org/story/149393/wikileaks%27_most_terrifying_revelation%3A_just_how_much_our_government_lies_to_us?page=3

    Clip from Alternet:
Both the Wikileaks Iraqi and Afghan War Logs, in short, have revealed that the entire U.S. Executive is a “vast lying machine”, as journalist David Halberstam described the U.S. military in his affadavit for the CBS vs. Westmoreland trial. It must be understood that “truth” vs. “lies” is not even an operational category within the Executive Branch or military. The purpose of communicating with the public is not to provide them with truthful information but rather to advance “the mission”. People who communicate with the public obtain their jobs and are promoted on the basis of their ability to mislead, deceive, “spin” and lie. There is no recorded case where Executive Branch officials have been rewarded for telling the truth to the American people, and many where they have been punished or lost their jobs for doing so.

…..their lies are going to get us all poor as dirt, in a cage or dead.

People need to wake the hell up and start speaking out…before its really too damned late.

  14. malcolm kyle says:

The vast majority of drug users are white. This fact has been true for the entire “war on drugs.” Many whites live in majority white states. Most whites live in segregated communities. How do these millions of whites get their drugs?

Dorm Room Dealers: Drugs and the Privileges of Race and Class by A. Rafik Mohamed and Erik D. Fritsvold is the first piece of research that I’ve seen that has taken a serious look at the white drug trade. Specifically, it examines the white, middle-class, college-student drug trade. It is a fascinating and highly readable investigation.

True story….about five years ago checked out of Hojo in Melbourne FL and drove a couple miles before realizing I had left a half oz of really nice hydro in the bedside dresser.

Turned right around and went to the desk clerk to get key and when she asked why I told her straight up. She laughed and said, “Better get there before the housekeepers”

    I did…Happy Ending

The only occasion in my life when I got high on PCP it was from smoking some pot that I found in a bureau of the motel room where I was lodged that night. That really was one thing that I stayed away from as it was popular in my high school and the PCP users were totally fucked in the head. But their loveboat smelled like a really extreme pine tree/lysol, whatever, it had a very distinctive smell. Other than looking like it was a little greasy and being wrapped in foil there was nothing to indicate that it wasn’t just clean, wholesome cannabis. Later I felt validated in my decision to leave that crap alone. I’ve speculated that the smell that I knew had come from a screwup in the processing and that what I found had been manufactured ‘correctly’. Anyway boys and girls, PCP is a really, really disturbing experience. I have no clue why the first guy who tried it said to somebody ‘hey this is great shit, let’s get some more.
