Coroner’s report: Lewis had marijuana in system

OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) – USI basketball player Jeron Lewis died of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy according to the final report issued by the Daviess County coroner.

Toxicology tests showed Lewis also had marijuana in his system when he collapsed in a game against Kentucky Wesleyan January 14. There is no evidence the marijuana contributed to his death, however.

A young basketball player dies because of an undetected medical condition – an enlarged heart. Yet there are no questions by the media regarding the physicals taken by athletes. Just an irrelevant headline that he had marijuana in his system.

I find it interesting that the writer of this piece of tripe didn’t even have enough pride in their work product to even put their name to it as it’s author.

If they won’t affix their name to their trash, then it’s just a bushel of road apples. The writer must be a “post turtle.”

the comments on that article are interesting, but this one really made me giggle

I hope that by telling the truth it may show youngsters the consequences of their actions could be deadly. I’m not a Dr. but I know every year different substances contribute to illness & death. This is why we hear that 2 years after a drug has FDA approval there are suddenly side effects previously unknown or not reported. 5 years from now it may be common knowledge that smoking pot leads to, or aggravates an enlarged heart. No disrespect intended, but he may have contributed to this tragic event that cost him his life. And no, I am in no way implying he deserved to die, just that he may have contributed to his death by getting high.

    The uninformed are always funny.

And this is another reason why the Obama administrations’ 2011 budget for DOJ is so retrograde and Bush-like. I’m talking here about adding $10 Million for the zeroed-out by (even!) Bush ADAM program, which bothers to drug test all arrestees so that lurid shocking statistics can be produced that, e.g., xx% of all criminal arrestees had marijuana or whatever in their bodily fluids.

I was never sure what this program produced, other than stereotyping and a “correlation = causation” logic fail, but according to DOJ:

“Arrestee Drug Abuse Monitoring (ADAM) Program:
$10.0 million for ADAM, which is a survey to collect
data on drug use by arrestees, helping to inform policy
decisions about evolving trends in the types of drugs
used and their relationship to the crimes being committed.
In conjunction, this survey provides a wealth of
information on the characteristics of arrestees not
available from administrative record systems, including
their demographic, educational, employment and economic
characteristics, as well as their prior involvement
with the criminal justice system. ADAM also provides
unique detailed information about illicit drug markets
and the nature of illicit drug transactions not available
from any other source. There is $0 in FY 2011
    current services for this program.”

DEXtronaut, that’s just silly. FDA approved drugs are newly introduced to the population. Cannabis has been around for 5000 years. If it were exacerbating conditions we’d have a pretty good idea of it by now. 100 million living people in the US have consumed cannabis. They keep trying to pin health issues on cannabis, but none have stuck, not even lung damage from smoking.

    AP Washington DC

Propagandist Calvina Fay reported today that Jeron Lewis was sporting clothing containing buttons. At first this seemed to be an unrelated issue. But considering most against non Pharmaceutical drugs use snaps and zippers. This is a warning sign to parents. One the police brushed off as rhetoric. Now we see the results. Buttons push a person beyond their normal controls. It takes dexterity and time not wasted with velcro. Jeron Lewis was a good man and whoever turned him on to clothing with buttons, should be persecuted to the fullest extent of the law. DARE to keep your kids off buttons!

The problem of trying too grab anything floating when you are drowning is that you may be grabbing an alligator.
The proby’s are grabbing any branch in the stream to try and do their work to keep the cartels in business.

Very nice, DdC. I got a laugh out of your post, even though it’s not funny.

At least they attached this bit of information. In the past they would not have done so. Although sometimes I think these “incremental steps” size’s are approaching zero. Drug policy changes at a glacial pace.
