Candle in the Wind

A new video of Marilyn Monroe has surfaced, smoking pot with some friends (from what you see in the video it could as well be a cigarette, but apparently the person who shot the film verified the pot story).

Of course, it’s not a surprise. Marijuana has always been popular in the creative fields, and Marilyn wasn’t one to worry about whether something was “proper” (or legal).

Erect 6 foot poster of marilyn suspended by chains from each corner on sloping ceiling.
    Sounds easy?

Nothing more painful than a belly laugh while stretching for the sky with mmmMarilyn.

Ever since I got my Marilyn Tshirt I like to stand in front of the mirror wiggling for some strange reason its like shes alive my mom must wonder why I take so long to wash my hands there is a mirror in the hallway too but I don’t look at it.
Mirrors are more fun than television.

Looks like she’s smoking tobacco to me. Specifically the way she exhales.

  4. Cta says:

So smoking herb is bad behaviour? While smoking tobacco that can cause cancer and actually kill you is more proper behaviour? The world has made such a big deal about herb it’s both pathetic and laughable. Everyone should just grow the fuck up.

    Thanks for the post.
yes, my first instinct with the way she exhales is that it is a cigar or a cigarette. Even if it is pot…is it really a surprise? she died of a drug overdose.

Whether it is proper or not, well, but for the exception of medicinal use in some states it is illegal.

The person who made the film confirmed that the cigarette contained marijuana, saying: “I got it (the pot). It was mine. It was just passed around.”

That quote is incorrectly attributed to Marilyn Monroe. It is by Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, a historian.

“Well-behaved women seldom make history” has become a universal slogan for independent women across the globe. I’ve never heard Marilyn Monroe quote this and she probably was killed before it was quoted by Ulrich. I thought it was from Mae West. thanks… Though it fits.

Cta? While smoking tobacco that can cause cancer and actually kill you is more proper behaviour?

    Chemical cigarettes, not tobacco rant.

As with Ganja early Americans, Indians, Egyptians, Turks, China and Europeans had no problems with tobacco smoke, only after the corporations and the pesticides and chemicals for your smoking pleasure Reagan used to pitch before voodoo economics. Still not mentioned as if it has no bearing.

    Organic Cannabis/Tobacco vs Chemical Cigarettes

Al Capone and Watergate were red herrings to divert the countries attention from the Fascist acts of eliminating competition. Booze or Ganja/Hemp.

    Mike? tsk tsk tsk

Even in a drug worriers wildest state of delusion I can’t help wonder why they don’t keep these gems to themselves and save the embarrassment. I would never hire or contract someone with such fantasies about Ganja being “illegal” or dangerous. Its a scam to remove competition, period. Its not illegal because lies are not considered Constitutional. Continuing to repeat gossip only makes you foolish. These quotes below are Congressional testimony that started the fraud. Then Nixon continued it to this day and still no victims from smoking Ganja. Only from drug worriers lies and fear mongering. Americans are going to prison because Americans are cowards and idiots believing whatever the boob tube spews. The same Feds claiming no medicinal value are rolling 300 joints every 25 days for 4 remaining IND patients. The Ganjawar has nothing to do with the dangers of Ganja and as for laws, patooy I spit on your law! Just like your laws banning blacks from voting or entering restaurants. Or laws banning a woman’s choice to govern her own body. Or a citizens right to keep perverts from tasting their piss. Tuskegee legally shot up prisoners with Syphilis and god only knows what the spooks have done “legally” Hitler was the legal government. Mussolini had the trains running on time and IG Farben set up shop in the US as the American IG. Bayer Ford Hearst Rockefeller Dupont Monsanto, The poison sprayers getting us sick are the drug companies selling us treatment. Legally! Geeesh man thats almost the fox gossip hour crap.

Ummm, I think the issue here is that this film is being misrepresented, and that the person that ‘verified’ that she was smoking cannabis is a fraud. I wouldn’t care if it was a pole she was smoking, just don’t try to tell me it’s a candy cane.

Just my opinion based on what I saw.

River of No Return” (20th Century Fox, 1954) in which he played loner Matt Calder opposite saloon singer Kay Weston, played by Marilyn Monroe. Mitchum was arrested for possession of marijuana during the filming of “River,” which should have ruined his career, but which paved the way for his bad-boy films (like “Night of the Hunter”).

Mitchum was a Depression-era hobo who fell into acting. Even when famous, he was independent and found trouble; he was busted for smoking marijuana before most people in the country even knew what it was.

ROBERT MITCHUM ‘S CANYON DRUG BUST-1948
The conviction was later overturned by the Los Angeles court and District Attorney’s office on Jan. 31, 1951.

Wiki and most others have the bust in 48. I have little doubt Monroe toked, but I’m not sure if a flick takes 6 years or the How to Assemble an Essential Robert Mitchum Filmography post is weird.

On September 1, 1948, after a string of successful films for RKO, he and actress Lila Leeds were arrested for possession of marijuana.
The arrest was the result of a sting operation designed to capture other Hollywood partiers as well, but Mitchum and Leeds did not receive the tip-off. After serving a week at the county jail, Mitchum spent 43 days (February 16 to March 30) at a Castaic, California, prison farm, with Life magazine photographers right there snapping photos of him mopping up in his prison uniform. The arrest became the inspiration for the exploitation film She Shoulda Said No! (1949), which starred Leeds. The arrest did little to affect Mitchum’s career in the long term, but was seen as an embarrassment by his studio, who ordered Mitchum to clean up his act. The conviction was later overturned by the Los Angeles court and District Attorney’s office on January 31, 1951, with the following statement, after it was exposed as a set-up:

“After an exhaustive investigation of the evidence and testimony presented at the trial, the court orders that the verdict of guilty be set aside and that a plea of not guilty be entered and that the information or complaint be dismissed.”

Despite troubles with the law and his studio, the films released immediately after his arrest were box-office hits.
