    I can’t tell you just how tickled pink I am that Adam Eidinger actually managed to get himself arrested by the US Capitol Police today. Point in fact it was part of a planned event. Perhaps some of the more perpetual couch sitters will recall when I’ve mentioned the time in 1994 or 1995 when DC NORML scheduled a similar event but the Capitol Police refused to play their assigned role. “Permits expired. Move along.” Then they turned around and left. Permanently seared into my brain is the image of my friend Joel chasing the cops, puffing on the joint like a choo choo train while demanding to be arrested. “It’s your duty!” The cops just ignored him. It totally sucked.

    The racial overtones of the current drug war are exemplified by the color of the eggs. And it’s a fairly good commercial, all things considered.

    It must be noted, however, that the drug war’s initial victims were overwhelmingly white, college-age men. Yes, it fast-tracked to a more diverse color scheme. But it started out pretty lily white. (I was busted in July ’71, and again in April ’72.)

    Conspiracy freak Alex Jones’ custody battle during his divorce touched on his drug habits. Jones had this to say about marijuana:

    20-APR-2017 — Jones was asked about his drug and alcohol use by attorney Bobby Newman, who is representing Jones’ ex-wife Kelly in the custody battle over the couple’s three children.

    During his testimony, Jones claimed that he smoked marijuana once a year to “monitor its strength,” and he claimed that it’s gotten progressively stronger over the years — and he thinks that George Soros is somehow involved.[…]

    “George Soros has brain damaged a lot of people,” Jones said, according to reporter Texas Monthly reporter Dan Solomon.

    Elsewhere in his testimony, Jones told the jury that eating large bowls of chili had adverse effects on his ability to remember things, although he said that he made sure to not eat a large bowl of chili before appearing in court on Thursday.

    ‘A California Supreme Court committee advised judges in the state Wednesday to stay away from pot – meaning investments in pot businesses.’ They are telling them to dump a fund that is even .1% invested in pot, be it a REIT or other, though they may have had the fund long before it began to invest in cannabis businesses. Even their spouse is advised to not hold anything.

    Because legal cannabis in California increases the odds of the war on drugs going away, while decreasing the violence of drug money, I’m assuming that this committee is requiring the judges to invest in the ISIS and Crips Funds . . . Crack house and meth lab REITs . . . Al Qaeda and Taliban training sites that are bundled into a mortgage bond . . . the Dodge and Cox Bashar al-Assad fund . . . the Vanguard Kandahar Opium Fund . . . The Al-Baghdadi Asset Management Corporation . . . Boko-Haram Capital etc.

    A lot of you guys like to hand out free joints to make a political point, I like to pass out black Jihad flags to politicians and law enforcement (who surprisingly thank me and fly them at their houses, not knowing it wasn’t meant to be taken seriously).

    And those masked cops from Florida that Pete posted–I’ve seen those same masks being worn by ISIS . . . maybe we should end the expensive war on drugs so cops can get better pay and not have to take a second job as a Terrorist, just to pay the bills.       I feel your pain, NCN. I compensate by deriving solace from the fact that Mormons, who deny the medical benefits of marijuana, will fall victim to Darwin’s law of natural selection. There exists an historical analogy.

      At the beginning of the 19th century, Evangelicals in both Britain and the United States protested against smallpox vaccinations as being contrary to the will of God, who, according to theocrats, apparently got his jollies killing people off with smallpox.

      Smallpox made up 10-percent of the mortality rate in that era. The competition between religion and science thus provided its own solution.     New research at the University of Connecticut indicates marijuana calms our guts, and it works like chili peppers. Amazing. Who would have thought our gut was uptight? Marijuana is normally considered useful for uptight minds:

    24-APR-2017 — You wouldn’t think chili peppers and marijuana have much in common. But when eaten, both interact with the same receptor in our stomachs, according to a paper by UConn researchers published in the April 24 issue of the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The research could lead to new therapies for diabetes and colitis, and opens up intriguing questions about the relationship between the immune system, the gut and the brain.

    Touch a chili pepper to your mouth and you feel heat. And biochemically, you aren’t wrong. The capsaicin chemical in the pepper binds to a receptor that triggers a nerve that fires off to your brain: hot! Those same receptors are found throughout the gastrointestinal tract, for reasons that have been mysterious.

    Curious, UConn researchers fed capsaicin to mice, and found the mice fed with the spice had less inflammation in their guts. The researchers actually cured mice with Type 1 diabetes by feeding them chili pepper. When they looked carefully at what was happening at a molecular level, the researchers saw that the capsaicin was binding to a receptor called TRPV1, which is found on specialized cells throughout the gastrointestinal tract. When capsaicin binds to it, TRPV1 causes cells to make anandamide. Anandamide is a compound chemically akin to the cannabinoids in marijuana. It was the anandamide that caused the immune system to calm down. And the researchers found they could get the same gut-calming results by feeding the mice anandamide directly.

    The brain also has receptors for anandamide. It’s these receptors that react with the cannabinoids in marijuana to get people high. Scientists have long wondered why people even have receptors for cannabinoids in their brains. They don’t seem to interact with vital bodily functions that way opiate receptors do, for example.

    “This allows you to imagine ways the immune system and the brain might talk to each other. They share a common language,” says Pramod Srivastava, Professor of Immunology and Medicine at UConn Health School of Medicine. And one word of that common language is anandamide.[…]

    It’s difficult to get federal license to experiment on people with marijuana, but the legalization of pot in certain states means there’s a different way to see if regular ingestion of cannabinoids affects gut inflammation in humans.[…]

    It seems a little ironic that both chili peppers and marijuana could make the gut chill out. But how useful if it’s true.

    People have a new reason to say “Ich bin ein Berliner”. Recreational cannabis smokers are being recruited in a study that will include 25,000 participants from Berlin.

    25 April 2017 — A research initiative hopes to get approval for a study that would recruit 25,000 recreational cannabis consumers in Berlin – if it can get government approval.

    The group called the Research Initiative on Cannabis Consumption is hoping to get an application for a new study approved so that they can analyze the “consequences of cannabis for psychologically healthy, adult consumers”. The aim is to understand what effects cannabis use has after several years, according to the group, which was started by a Berlin lawyer and a clinical psychology professor at the Medical School Hamburg.

    The initiative reported last week that they had submitted an updated application to the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) for approval…the research initiative is hoping to shed light on the effects of recreational use – which is still illegal – rather than of medical treatments.

    So far 2,000 people have signed up to participate in the study within the first ten weeks of the search. The initiative leaders said that in selecting participants, they will rule out anyone under 18, first-time pot smokers, as well as anyone with potential addiction or psychiatric problems.

    If the study obtains approval, participants would be allowed to pick up 30 grams of cannabis normally reserved for medical patients each month from a pharmacy.

The objectives of the initiative, Legalize It describes, are three-fold: to allow adults the “freedom and right to consume cannabis”, to prevent those who seek cannabis from having to purchase from the “black market”, and to ensure increased investment into drug use prevention, related research, and social security.       I don’t trust Beauregard or Trumpy or do they seem to be pertinent. Trumps ego doesn’t need even lower ratings and Sessions has always bowed down to his masters as much as he would love to wipe em all out. Too many people and too much money seen, in the bank. Jobs and stats clear enough to expose the alternative fact passers as frauds.

      Donnie has a full plate trying to appease the money that put him there when 99% of the country wants to go in a different direction. Even if we can’t sit in the same room together on social matters, you can’t eat social matters. Hemp and Organic Farming is more labor intensive and less harmful to pregnant women than Monsantoed crap. More jobs locally. Sounds like a goper issue to me.

      Family Farmers hiring more local labor to spend it locally. More available products from the same plant, Cannabis. Hemp and Ganja were only held back because of censorship and lack of alternatives with the capacity to reach more than the view of a bumper sticker. So far the internet is intact, if it isn’t censored or over priced. Big Pharma is getting knocked around on the ODs and berzerk profits and cost to the 99%. Ganja affordable health care is a proven alternative to the opioids and it assist in withdrawal. Hemp oil, seed and cbd is making its mark. Clothing would be billions instead of hundred millions grown in the states. All 50 like they were United or something.

      Sessions will use the Ganjawar to round up illegals and wayward youth. Probably feeding the new Tzars rehabilitation asylums. Skuzzy SAM will try to weasel in on legislations. IF we don’t stop them from their own clinical paranoia. They could probably push the pisstasters profits and typically their goal is to punish us so taking our licenses would make em smile a bit. When the people do their part the politicians can only obey. When the people give their rights to the politicians then its hard for me to understand why they should be heard when they cry about the situation. Reality has to take a priority and thus remove Cannabis in all shapes and sizes from the CSA. Wipe the grungy oil stained slate clean without the baggage keeping the paranoid drug worriers in business. Incrementalism is holding off a slaughter but it is still bartering with insanity.

    I especially like Bill S.1060 which would repeal the voter initiative, and “includes an admission on behalf of Commonwealth voters that legalizing marijuana was a mistake that will increase unwanted criminal and civil wrong-doing.” Nice of them to speak on behalf of the voters, letting them know they voted the wrong way.

      At least MA voters got a chance to vote. In Oklahoma, they change the laws changing the requirements needed to get ideas on the ballot. Object A: ‘school funding’ needs only X amount of signatures to make it on the ballot, while ‘marijuana’ needs triple X, though all initiatives (regardless if it’s Medical Cannabis or school funding) must contain the same amount of signatures. Marijuana needed triple the signatures than the ‘having sex with your 12yr old step-daughter bill’. But we only find out about this once the deadline is past. The law simultaneously changes the requirements of signatures needed without changing the requirements needed . . . this law comes from Trump’s EPA guy. You can have Scott Pruitt–we’re sharing him with you. Sorry this sludge leaked out onto the rest of America.

      CBSNews.com has a bogus article by Ashley Welch called Drugged driving more fatal than drunk driving, report says. The alcohol industry funded the study, which condemns marijuana and amphetamine use as causing auto accidents without noting the fact marijuana metabolites remain in the body for up to a month. The comments destroy the piece, but the site makes you click on an icon to reach the comments, which many people won’t do, thereby sidelining the critique.

Drug money has destroyed those places making prime land cheaper by the acre. He knows Assad and his enemies are funded by drugs. He knows ISIS and the Taliban are funded by drugs and by keeping the drug war open, he can buy the property cheaper when all the residents flee and or are dead.     Ninth Circuit Appeals Court Judge Alex Kozinski recommends the guillotine be used in capital cases involving executions. It’s a foolish statement for a man who is allegedly a federal appeals court judge.

    Guillotines and the death penalty by itself are extremely dangerous to have around during political unrest and revolutions. No one can be sure who will prevail, or who will eventually use the available means to dispatch their opponents. Methods of execution also have gruesome effects on societies.

    The barbarity of the guillotine is well documented from the French Revolution, and with regard to the White Rose. Hans Falada explored the gruesome mystique of the guillotine in Every Man Dies Alone.

    Guillotine executions and burning at the stake were often performed in public. The executions attracted a lot of people from all over the city and countryside, creating a joyous, circus-like atmosphere in communities sponsoring the event. Boarding lodges, hotels and even private residences were sold out, while people hung off balconies and cheered as heads rolled and heretics charred. Life was cheapened by a cheap spectacle.

    Modern media can come too close to making executions public. So when someone such as Alex Kozinske devalues human life by promoting guillotines, or when Donald Trump invites a serial killer like Rodrigo Duterte to the White House as a guest, each man poses a potential danger to himself and to others. If such a person survives a coup or revolution, evading some kind of tit-for-tat, many people still lose their respect for life.

      One point for the pro life death penialists. Guillotines are probably more humane, with a sharp blade. Than the stupid blotched cases with the wrong drugs. Or mass producing execution displays for the public shock jock value. Ratings for being tough on crime? Sits on DEAth row for years and Arkansas has to have a spring cleaning trying to kill 8. With drugs the Pharma company said they didn’t want used for executions. They were so desperate to kill they were smuggling drugs when Big Pharma niixed them in Georgia. Crazy, in Florida cops and bloodlusters would gather and when Old Sparky would make the lights flicker they would cheer and clap and drink beer like a ball game.

      Cases without the death penalty cost $740,000, while cases where the death penalty is sought cost $1.26 million. Maintaining each death row prisoner costs taxpayers $90,000 more per year than a prisoner in general population. There are 714 inmates on California’s death row.
