Yes, exactly.
Nice to see politicians calling out other politicians on this.
One bizarre moment in this article written by Alexander Bolton, though, was this passage:
The Globe cited a former classmate, Peter Tibbetts, who said he first smoked marijuana with Bush and also consumed cannabis, a concentration of the plant’s resin, in Bush’s dorm room.
Perhaps Bolton should Google “cannabis” and learn what it is before trying to define it to his readers.
jeb is only living the aristocratic lifestyle, not practicing hypocrisy. the rich and powerful don’t observe the same laws as the proletariat. never have, never will. that’s what is taught in elite prep schools.
Actually, what is taught in prep schools is everything the kid should have learned in high school but was too busy partying. Now that they want to enter university, they must prove up. Friend of mine, (Canadian) went to university in the US. She went straight out of high school, challenged the SAT’s (which we Canadians do not use) and aced them. Without prep, without coaching. She said it was no big deal. What amazes me is that you USans will accept such poor results from public high schools that prep schools are required. We don’t have them here in Canada, but then we have good public schools.

primus, prep schools are high schools in the US. There are SAT prep courses but those aren’t referred to as prep schools. 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th grades. Some of the truly hoity toity schools call them forms instead of grades and have headmasters instead of principals..

I attended a college prep school across my State from my hometown, when I was a junior in HS. The prep school was co-ed and had grades 6-12, though the senior class was not at the school, they were on a ship doing that international school thing. The senior class had only 8 students (4male and 4 female), the junior class had 8 males and 4 females, the lower classes had more kids in them. I had attended public schools up to that point (this was back in 1960) and I had to work as hard to get a C in that prep school as I did to get an A in public school. I returned to public school for my senior year so I could graduate with the kids I’d gone to school with since 1st grade.
in the usa prep school is where rich kids go to avoid rubbing shoulders with the unwashed. the problem isn’t that brats like jeb and george were smoking dope, it’s inability of the elite to refrain from nittpicking the lives of the peons.
This is the type of discourse that is needed in Washington. Might be a bit of a jog in the senses for them. Injecting a bit of truth every now and then never hurts.

If the people of the United States are stupid enough to elect Jeb Bush after what his brother did to our economy I’m not even going to debate, I am going to emigrate.
Cannabis=Nectar of the Gods and gift to humanity, a healing herb showered with love by Mother Nature and put here to help mankind cope with the impassable sea of shit that daily life can be when surrounded by lame blueblood busybody poseur squares who think Cannabis is a gateway drug.
Voters could end a lot of the marijuana hypocrisy popping up around election time by passing a new Constitutional amendment, one mandating that all presidential candidates smoke pot before running for office.
In addition to being politically popular, the amendment would screen out phonies and nutbags, candidates like Huckabee, Romney, and Santorum. Plus, it would be an amendment that reflects the modern trend of potentially viable presidential candidates.
Fuck everybody that makes a 7 figure salary or received a Porche for their birthday.
The above applies until some fool pays me 7 figures or buys me a Porche,,then I will evolve and have an epiphany.
Although politicians evolve on drugs about as fast as molasses flowing uphill in wintertime, I really wish they’d evolve a little quicker when it comes to describing their past drug use — or the drug use of others — as a “mistake” or a “youthful indiscretion”. Although I joined the wide and ranging cannabis culture well over 40 years ago, I have never considered it a mistake. The only mistake I made was was when my mother caught my friend and I smoking in the woods behind my childhood home (we foolishly didn’t account for the prevailing wind direction that streamed right to the open windows of my parents house).
Nor do I regret my involvement with LSD, mescaline and psilocibyn. Although I did pull a Maureen Dowd with psilocibyn once: I took a proper dose but got impatient for the effect to kick in and proceeded to take way too much. It scared the hell out of me for several hours but I survived, and did not repeat, that mistake again.
It’s way past old when, with and wink and a nod, people like Jeb Bush (and likely Rand Paul) fondly remember their frat boy days which invariably involved excessive drunkenness and how much crazy fun that was. But mention consuming cannabis and it’s just repent and apologize for their misguided youthful stupidity.
All that said, please no Jeb Bush for president. Haven’t we had enough of the members of that damn family running/ruining the show? Same goes for the Clinton clan. I really hope the great unwashed voting public has evolved past those disastrous political families. Though I’m not holding out much hope that that’s the case.

Once this is pinned down,
2.) Eliminate from the discussion anyone who cannot deal with the truth of this matter. The notion that Cannabis users are the contingent that can’t face reality needs to be forever quashed. My reformer heroes say there are only two parties to this discussion: those who have, and those who WILL NOT read the research. (You NEVER hear the SMARTIES refute or even acknowledge Mechoulam.)
3.) Then, begin to establish sensible rules, rather than these petty harassment ploys that get inserted by the very people who have done their very best to freeze any advancement of this issue across 8 decades. Again, these despoilers have earned their way OUT of the discussion and deserve zero say in the programs as they move forward. 6 plants, no, 12 plants, no, 5 nanograms, no, 50 nanograms per ml, no, 1,000 ft. from schools – AARRRRGGGHH! These micromanaging nanny saboteurs will need to get used to watching, not dictating policy.

I think that you’ve been listening to the propaganda n.t. We most certainly had hash oil back in the 1970s. None of today’s cannabis products are anything new. Just like edibles have been around for centuries. Google “Gunjah Wallah hasheesh candy” for an example of commercial edibles which were available when Abraham Lincoln was the POTUS and slavery was still legal.

I would like these candidates to answer this: would it have been moral for them to have been thrown in jail and then tried running for office?
Either they fix this unequal treatment or they face the truth: they are immoral crooks running for office. Immoral enough to treat others the way they themselves were unwilling to be treated. Hypocrites one and all. There is nothing moral about supporting a war on your own constituents. The drug war is on the American people, not the cartels. This war is immoral as hell. They haven’t pulled the wool over anyone’s eyes. They are hypocrites thru and thru.

They can call it a mistake and use language that dismisses their youthful indiscretion claiming morality all they want,,they are willing to continue locking up people for a plant that never gave them a hangover and has never killed anyone with an overdose while being no more addictive than coffee,,,and they KNOW it.
Politicians that have used marijuana and know of it’s safety from personal experience yet still support prohibition have NO morality too claim.
BTW if I am not mistaken the whole argument about brain changes in adolescents that NIDA has been running with to say that marijuana is dangerous for young adolescents is out the window.
