3 Months Later, Here’s What Denver Looks Like Since Legalizing Marijuana
Three months following Colorado’s decision to legalize the production, sale, possession and use of recreational marijuana — a vote that Denver city officials including Mayor Michael Hancock, among others, fought kicking and screaming — guess what’s happened to Denver crime rates in 2014?
According to new data, they’ve fallen across the board. Property crime is down 14.6% compared to the same period in 2013. Violent crimes are down 2.4%.
Where are the zombies?
I wonder if the stats are lower in smaller towns and rural areas? Is hard drug use lower as well? If there is a zombie outbreak, I wonder if pot could help heal the infected brain? But then again, giving zombies pot might not work out for us too well because they’ll be hungrier for more humans, but then again, we might see more zombies going on long nature walks, thus taking time away from their jobs working at ‘Apocalypse R Us.’
I call bullshit. Even if crime is down low there.everywhere else has skyrocketed .people are smuggling legal dope at cheap price and flipping it outta state
. Plus they haven’t. Mentions the skyrocket in child rape in fever in the past three months its gone up a trillion percent
I knew you were full of BS when you started talking about cheap legal pot,,I can buy a quarter pound for what CO pays for an ounce.
Are you talking a quarter pound before or after removing the seeds?
Oh Bulky, the travesty and horror. Smuggling is probably up because people actually prefer cannabis from a regulated source, known potency, quality and confident about what’s NOT in it. Cropping cartel $ is an added bonus! You are a dying breed, a parasite about to be exiled from its host.
Remember the old science fiction movies where a human outwits a computer/robot? Suddenly the computer’s lights start flickering maniacally, the computer’s voice sputters out nonsense, smoke begins emanating from the flailing machine before it goes dark forever. Below is the type of sentence that resembles the wonky machine’s final output;
Mentions the skyrocket in child rape in fever in the past three months its gone up a trillion percent
I’d say Pete Bulkner is experiencing a “short in the headset”.
It’s making them crazy. Witness the post above.
I guess some parole officers and prison guards are going to have to look for other work in the near future. I sure hope so. Far too many people profit from the misery our drug laws have inflicted on the citizenry.
Where are the zombies? It appears they are in the CO legislature. They would have to be brain dead to screw up regulating mj like alcohol as badly as they did.
Regardless of what the data say, you can be sure the prohibs will still be warning of increased crime and teen use. There has been legal mmj since 1996, and there’s plenty of data showing reduced crime and teen use in those states. Yet I continue to hear politicians and LEO warning of the increased crime that will follow mmj or rec mj legalization. It used to be just pessimistic speculation, but now it’s just plain lying.
it must be a hard truth to face: that your life is meaningless and useless. that’s why prohibitches have to lie to themselves and everyone else. if they faced facts they would have to get honest jobs. OT alert: http://tinyurl.com/o8akky9 decieving the public makes the job of policng easier.
Where are the zombies?! At the ONDCP…

CO Legalized MJ Tax Revs Ahead of Expectations
Reuters — Colorado, the first state to tax legalized recreational marijuana sales, expects to bring in an estimated $98 million in revenue this year, exceeding the state’s original expectations by 40 percent. The state began levying sales and excise taxes on recreational marijuana on January 1, 2014.
Moody’s Investors Service, in a report released Friday, said legal sales in Colorado will reduce the size of the black market and revenue from legal sales will mean more tax payments flowing into state coffers.
U.S. Legal Pot Sales To Hit $8 Billion A Year
USA — Combined sales of legal recreational and medical marijuana in the United States is projected to reach more than $8 billion in 2018. That’s according to a new report by Marijuana Business Daily citing data from the Marijuana Business Factbook, which forecasts that the 2018 retail marijuana industry could see an estimated $7.4 to $8.2 billion in sales.
The projection is based on sales estimates from the state-legal medical and recreational marijuana markets that already exist, as well as 4-5 additional states that are expected to legalize recreational marijuana and 2-3 states expected to legalize medical marijuana by 2018.

âAnd here we come to the vital distinction between the advocacy of temperance and the advocacy of prohibition. Temperance and self-control are convertible terms. Prohibition, or that which it implies, is the direct negation of the term self-control. In order to save the small percentage of men who are too weak to resist their animal desires, it aims to put chains on every man, the weak and the strong alike. And if this is proper in one respect, why not in all respects? Yet, what would one think of a proposition to keep all men locked up because a certain number have a propensity to steal?âž

Colorado Cops Take A Pot Shot
So violent and property crimes are down in Denver. And we have no way of knowing how many of the crimes that have been committed relate to legalized marijuana. Yet the AP goes ahead and quotes law enforcement officials who say that the entire region is erupting into chaos – the same people who predicted as much before legalization took effect and so, of course, have an interest in seeing it come to pass.
Crime rates dipping in three months since Colorado legal pot sales began
“Marijuana is not the determining factor in the commission of major crime….The publicity concerning the catastrophic effect of marijuana smoking in New York City, is unfoundedâ€
~ The LaGardia sub-committee of New York 1944
I’m pretty sure the good statistics from Colorado will not be mentioned during the sheriff’s race in Jackson Co OR, where dispensaries are enthusiastically being banned, I guess to curb the meth-fueled crime.
look at what we have going on here Frank… yeah, the OLCs got in there and stuck us with this possibility of a moratorium but we are out there, attending those local meetings and we may not be winning them all but we are winning. More importantly in my mind is that ordinary, everyday Or’gonians are standing up and calling “bullshit” at the local level.
As frustrating as it is amigo the simple truth is we are winning and they are losing. Yeah, they’re still pains in our asses but their insignificance grows.
I had a steady challenge to Ms Taylor back in the ModBee days… I would take the train to Modesto or wherever on my dime and debate her in public. She of course never did accept. But when the anti-cannabists raise their heads and spew their dreck, call ’em out. There’s some mighty smart folks on the issue in your neck of the woods if you feel the need for back-up.
That’s not fair allan. You know as well as I do that if Ms. Taylor were to agree to those terms that she’d get busted for felonious aggravated ugly in public.

You should mention them.
Thanks Allan, I need to quit bellyaching and check out what’s going on around me. I’ve been in the Bellyache Brigade too long…
hey Frank, fyi (and tell anyone that can make it):

Here in Maryland the shocking truth is that Governor O’Malley announced that he’s going to sign the bill to decriminalize extra-petty possession.
O’Malley To Sign Marijuana Decriminalization Bill Monday
It’s not all that shocking that LE is trying to pressure Governor O’Malley into a veto. But their “reasoning” leads me to believe that they’ve gone off the deep end. Get a load of this, it’s from the “I’m from the government, and I’m here to help” category:
Oh no, the poor, poor pitiful prohibitionist parasites can’t figure out how to deal with such a complicated scenario. Mr. Shellenberger, tell your idiot friends from the police to pretend that the pot is the person’s wallet. No wait, that would probably confuse them too. After all, nobody carries two wallets.
Oh well, it’s nothing new to encounter a prohibitionist who is a few points short of an IQ.
Don’t get me wrong, I want to drive to Annapolis and wring the necks of every single Legislator and sell their women and children into slavery for perpetrating the scam that Maryland is decriminalizing. But it really does demonstrate just how very brain dead the people are on the other side of the table. C’mon Mr. Shellenberger, this law only decriminalizes cannabis that’s floating around in the air. It’s just pretend decriminalization.
Ah, another half-assed decriminalization bill. I don’t think this is an effective strategy for the prohibs in the long run. National opinion is strongly against them and those “non-voting millennials” won’t stay young forever. OT, Duncan did you every reply back to that parasite named Ed Earl Upshaw when he insulted you?
what self-respecting free born American would limit his freedom to possessing less than ten grams of cannabis? it’s your patriotic duty to possess as much hemp as you can grow, it makes tyrants insane. our overlords are having brain overloads.
here’s a story about tyrants getting their inner crazy on: http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/04/11/ohio-high-school-athlete-sues-over-suspension-for-pro-marijuana-retweet/
Wow, that Poptech troll just doesn’t want to give up does he. The Ad hominem attacks are ridiculous, oh and I can haz science cuz I sayz so.
Here’s a thread were he get’s his ass handed to him.http://www.capemaycountyherald.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=233169
I think it’s fair for us to claim bragging rights that MMJ is being successfully used as a medicine in all 50 states..it’s not the patients fault that some of them have to buy their medicine from criminals.
http://tinyurl.com/q6ohz3u
Colombia,MO is having an investigation into how large a homegrown operation would be considered safe for MMJ patients,,,and the MMJ bill is still being argued in committee in the state legislature,,,that sure has to be waking up some of those small towns all over MO.
No comments but interesting how fast some major cities are getting way ahead of their legislatures.
There are no criminals selling pot, only those who try to stop them are criminals.
