I hate to recommend watching the TV “news” stations, but it’s how so much of the mass population gets their info…

Tonight at 9 pm Eastern: Gone to Pot – Making cases for and against the legalization of marijuana.

Featuring LEAP’s Neil Franklin and… David Evans.

Wow, they’re really having to dig to the bottom of the barrel to find prohibitionists. Evans, by the way, is a career drug testing guy, who has lobbied heavily for the drug testing industry.

Oh btw that’s on Pierced Morgan. I believe Ganja Supta is repeating Weed” tonnight too.

    • Pete says:

      It’s Piers Morgan.

      • DdC says:

        Piers Stefan Pughe-Morgan

Weed the second time was still like sobriety clear of cobwebs the DEA provides. Knowing these brothers are growing actual happiness for many families and their kids. So far beyond the reefer madness and stoner stereotypes.

Something on CNN now (11 pac) about Harborside called “Inside Man” Morgan Spurlock

    • Plant Down Babylon says:

Piers Morgan is a buffoon (dumbass is more like it).

Guess he’s no worse than Bill O’reily, though.
They’re both gonna need MMJ at some point in their lives and neither one will feel remorse for their buffoonery.

I will give Piers credit for giving Neill a platform, however.

      • claygooding says:

He has turned positive on marijuana,,he is a LOT better than Bill!

        • B. Snow says:

Yep, It appears that Piers does in fact have a soul!

In that special last night – which was in effect a “clip-show” of many interviews with various guests over the last year or so – You can see him (almost literally) “evolving on the issue”…

And the only people against it were the Rehab’ers, Testing & “Treatment” Industry.
AND -of course- the Moralists = “Oh noes, *We can’t have another legal drug * – omg, omg, omg… Someone, Federal & Heavily Lobbied in Congress, PLEASE save us from these Hippy-Loving-Legalizers!”

And after seeing examples of the children cannabis truly helps -vs- the spectre of apocryphal (all but nonexistent) ‘playground pushers’ supposedly giving pot to kindergarteners = with the trite – “the first hit is free” nonsense, is just that nonsense.

You know the crap that the Shafer report said was nonexistent (aside from handful of *alleged* instances – that were likely fictional), and unlikely to occur in a reality where marijuana was treated like alcohol.

*Side Note* – The Wikipedia entry for the Shafer report, aka = the “National Commission on Marihuana and Drug Abuse” – has no references to the Nixon Tapes where Nixon flat out says what the results of the report will be – long before it was finished and/or delivered to him.

Now, I suppose citing the Nixon White House Tapes is problematic… But, WTH?
I’ve listened to a bunch of them – while reading the transcripts – where he cusses like crazy, and says just about every other offensive/racist thing imaginable!
Especially when he talks with H. R. Haldeman, and the transcript often reads *unintelligible* but it’s pretty clear what he said in the given the context of the conversation (aside from times were it was likely one of a few synonyms)…

Wow… sorry about that = it turned-out way more ‘ranty’ than I’d intended it to be.

Point being, oh right = Piers Morgan seems to have landed on the reality side of the fence. You know, where the fact that cannabis is much less harmful than both alcohol & tobacco actually amounts to a common sense conclusion that it should be legal.

  2. N.T. Greene says:

Anyone who gives the movement face time is fine by me… during the time they give us face time.
Aside from that, it depends on the day. Piers has been doing this rather frequently lately, though… Maybe he remembers how good this stuff is.

  3. Francis says:

Christie seeks changes in New Jersey medical marijuana bill

Christie told the Legislature that he would sign the bill if it stipulated that edible forms of marijuana would be dispensed only to minors, not to patients of all ages.

I’m having some trouble figuring out the logic behind that one. Is he perhaps worried that if edibles are legally available to everyone, it will cause some sort of statewide brownie shortage? I don’t get it.

“As I have repeatedly noted, I believe that parents, and not government regulators, are best suited to decide how to care for their children,” Christie continued.

But they’re evidently not best suited to decide how to care for themselves. Apparently that job should be left to this man, a true paragon of physical health and wellness.

    • darkcycle says:

He’s committed to undermining and delaying that program to the bitter end. He doesn’t care who suffers and who dies.

    • Jean Valjean says:

      A fat boy laments:
Oh man, those eatables…I hate the smoked stuff but can’t resist a brownie…somebody stop me!

    • Freeman says:

That was some horrible “logic” there. I was particularly offended and outraged by his response to a parent desperately trying to care for a drastically ill child that it may seem “simple” to him, but to a governor with presidential aspirations, it’s “complicated”. It’s only complicated because they’ve been guided by fear, uncertainty, and doubt into stipulating stupid provisions like only three strains available (no low-thc high-cdb strain needed by Vivian Wilson and other Dravet sufferers) and no edibles for adults. How stupid is it to be guided by fear and ignorance into disallowing strains that don’t even get the patient high (particularly children)? I thought kids getting high is mostly what they are afraid of!

Let’s un-complicate it for him. I’m going to join others in writing him a letter letting him know that he will NOT get my vote in any national election because of his irrational fear of a safe and beneficial herb. Christie is desperately in need of education outside of his conservative bubble. He should travel to Colorado and pay a visit to Charlotte Figi’s family and see for himself.

      • Duncan20903 says:

        .
        .

Consistency and continuity are not the strong suits of the prohibitionist.

“There is no such thing as a “smoked” medicine!”

“They’re making edible medicine to get the children ‘hooked’!”

“Medibles aren’t to be allowed for adults, only for children.”

“Potheads are lazy layabouts that can’t accomplish anything.”

“The potheads have tricked States where more than half the population lived in the face of opposition from an intransigent Federal government with trillions of borrowed dollars to squander!”

“Enforcement of cannabis laws cost us nothing!”

“If we quit spending the money for cannabis law enforcement then we’ll be up to our ears in Spicolis!”

“The potheads are guilty of murder because they buy from criminals!”

If we legalize and take that money away from the organized criminal syndicates they’ll just switch to other crimes!”

If it’s legalized everyone will give it away for free!

  4. darkcycle says:

Actually, I’m behind the choice of representatives 100%. Really, Pete, who could be better to argue our side than Neil? And, conversely, who could be a better choice to argue our side that David? The minute Evans opens his mouth, no thinking person will want to align with him.

  5. Servetus says:

Truly, they are insane. They’re coming for our vegetables. Are the supermarkets to blame?

Police Destroy Organic Farm in Massive SWAT Team Raid

    • Jean Valjean says:

helicopters, the lot. the public should have the right to know how much they have had to pay for this latest piece of stupidity

  6. claygooding says:

The feds are busting MS 13,,almost 400 arrested across the nation,,It is nice to see them busting violent criminals instead of peaceful dispensary owners.

  7. allan says:

for us non-cable/satellite types, somebody dish the goods. How’d it go? I know Neill knows the drug war but I’m curious how he handled just dealing w/ pot. And Evans, besides looking like (strayan) a crazy uncle, how bad was he?

When I was in college in the late ’70s the editor I worked with on the student paper was a David Evans. Tall, red headed, he drank like a fish and puffed very large. I’ve kind of assumed over the years that the two are not the same gentleman.
