I missed this one last week.
Representative Steve King speaking about… I don’t know… weightlifting?
“For every [undocumented immigrant] who’s a valedictorian, there’s another 100 out there that weigh 130 pounds and they’ve got calves the size of cantaloupes because they’re hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert.”
Steve King has got to be up there with some of the worst congressional cretins of all time. Goes to show voters everywhere are mostly idiots, just like the 98.5% or so who voted for Obama or Romney or McCain or ….
Just like all politician he doesn’t even know what he is talking about because every Border War bundle of marijuana weighed 150 lbs but as with all control freaks he couldn’t give full credit to any effort put out by anyone else.`

Researchers have discovered two compounds from cannabis leaves that can increase calves* to the size of cantaloupes.
Test in animals have already shown the compounds can increase the calves while also helping to reduce levels of cholesterol in the blood stream and fat in key organs like the liver.
They are now conducting clinical trials on 100 patients out there that weigh 130 pounds in the hope of producing a drug that can be used to treat patients suffering from “cantaloupe calve syndromeâ€,
Dr Steph King, director of research and development at DEA Pharmaceuticals which is developing the drugs, said: “We are conducting four Phase 2a clinical trials and we expect some results later this year.
“The results in animal models have been very encouraging for every [undocumented immigrant] who’s a valedictorian,. We are interested in how these drugs effect the calves and utilisation of undocumented valedictorian immigrants.

Team Hemp House launches drive to build first Colorado house made of hemp products
tokeofthetown July 25, 2013
Hemp advocate Jason Lauve has a new endeavor: Team Hemp House, the goal of which is to build a hemp demonstration house in Colorado. “The intent is to show that we can use hemp to build the foundation and the walls and the tiles, but also the furnishings in the house, including the food in the fridge,” says Lauve, who’s helped legalize the crop.
There’s a bigger goal, too, he adds: “The Team Hemp House project is the foundation that we need to get the whole industry excited and get it off the ground.” Denver Westword has the full story.
High on Hemp
LOL!
The scooter maker better watch out. I received a canned response from Gil Kerlikowske regarding hemp being allowed to be grown in the US. Gil informed me that hemp can contain minute amounts of THC, a federally controlled substance. Therefore, industrial hemp is a very dangerous plant (and evil).
I suppose according to Gil’s logic, this scooter could become a Schedule I motor vehicle. The BMW i3 as well.
Howard tell Giligan … I should mention that DMT is an endogenous neurotransmitter. Yes, DMT, the most powerful of the hallucinogens occurs in the human brain as a
normal part of metabolism. It also is a Schedule I drug, so you’re all holding and this might be the basis for some kind of case. To just show what absolute poppycock all this nonsense is: People Have Been Made Illegal!”

DdC, I wish I could get through to Giligan (he refuses to get back to me). But, if he does, I’ll mention DMTs’ important role with respect to human metabolism. Unfortunately it’s likely that that fact won’t jibe with his propaganda driven day job. I suspect this will tip him over and I’ll be forever removed from his Christmas card list.
Gil, I’ll miss you before I’ll even know you’re gone, you unrepentant bonehead…
the nexus of the drug war and immigration. king hits two whipping boys for the price of one. thats how he secures the moron vote. obama is doing exactly the same
I think the most recent poll of likely US voters gave Congress an approval rating of 6% (amazing it’s that high). Steve King is doing his best to lower the bar even further. Nice work Steve.
Aljazeera says Booz Allen, the company Edward Snowden worked for, is deeply involved in the drug war in South America:
Let’s hope Snowden et al. provides more drug war revelations in the future.
http://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/opinion/2013/06/20136128178530929.html
And the South American link is how so many good soldiers died in Iraq. Drug money kills and it forces the Feds and police to help groups like Al Qaeda via the law, which is treason . . . and since LE requires one to work inside the CSA laws, it makes LE an illegal activity since treason is illegal. And cops know this . . . they are not dumb to the fact their activity creates illegal drugs, which are sold by terrorists.
The War College is a good source of info when studying the Narco-Terro nexus . . . when in doubt, use the big guns when researching. I’ll trust the DOD stats any day because it teaches me that it’s illegal to be a cop because of the treason attribute.
Well this story reminds me of Martin Luther King’s birthday back in 1988 when Jimmy “the Greek” Snyder lost his job with CBS guessing which football team would win.
I doubt Mr. King has any idea what 75 lbs of pot actually looks like. It barely fits in the trunk of my, er, the average car.
