Kerlikowske said one of the key parts of the Obama administration’s strategy to combat drug abuse is to “remove the stigma…and to help people understand you can recover.”
“I think it is what we might call a teachable moment when someone passes – particularly as someone as highly thought of and such an incredible performer as Whitney Houston,” Kerlikowske said. “We can use this as a moment to help people understand. There are millions of Americans that are suffering from this problem…so we can use this as a chance to move forward.”
That’s right, the government is here to remove the stigma and that’s why they’re raiding medical marijuana dispensaries and sending DEA agents to bust down doors, and funding drug wars around the world that end in thousands of deaths.
Yes, death can be a teachable moment, and a time to move forward. But Kerlikowske’s the last one to look to for lessons or direction.
People like Gil Kerlikowske are a class of opportunists who either actually believe what that are saying or are just saying it because that’s what their speechwriter coached them to say. They are either ignorant of what’s really going on in the real world or they do know and cynically manipulate their words to try and counter that reality.
so whats he going to do for the 20 or so million who have been stigmatized for life by a drug conviction? lost jobs housing children education immigration benefits liberty. just more empty words from the liar in chief.
When a person takes a job with full knowledge that he is required to lie to the people he is getting his paycheck from and keeps policies in place that do more harm than good,,learning is not possible,,he is too busy remembering which lie he is pushing today.
Maybe he’s only interested in removing the stigma for prescription drug abusers. It’s only the illegal drug users that he wants to kill, incarcerate and stigmatize! Honest!

rita I hate to say it rita but in a few months it’ll be 23 years for me. It has gotten a lot better but multiple car doors slamming or someone knocking loudly and insistently on my door will still get me. Last year when I experienced my very first earthquake, for the first few seconds I thought that the police where landing a helicopter on my roof. I actually went outside to verify. It has improved a lot, but I’ll bet that not that many people that experienced that earthquake had that as the first thing that popped into their minds. There hadn’t been a discernible earthquake in this area for well over 100 (119?) years so I think it’s safe to speculate that it was the first earthquake most people around here had the pleasure of experiencing.
Yeah, that was kinda a rhetorical question. (My friends learned fairly quickly to not knock on my door. They tap lightly on the front of the trailer and call my name.)

Oh, man. This reminds me of a story about the father of Frederick the Great. He had put up posters all over Prussia saying that everyone should love the Good Emperor.
So, when said (thoroughly bleedin’, bughouse crazy) Emperor happened to be walking down the street, he encounters some poor peasant who recognizes him from his poster and cringes in fear. The Emperor sees this, and asks the peasant what’s wrong. The peasant replies that he’s afraid. This enrages the Emperor, who chases the peasant drown the street, beating the unlucky guy with a cane, screaming “You’re supposed to love me, scum, love me!”
Yes, the prohibs want us to love them after all they’ve done for us, and their feelings get so hurt when we, after being humiliated, beaten, bloodied, brutalized and (all too often) shot, have the ingratitude to complain about being the recipient of their tender mercies.
Well, their ‘tide’ is going out, and ours is coming in. The American economic house of cards is collapsing in slow motion, but that can shift into Warp Factor 9 with what’s going on in the rest of the world, and this country could find itself in the kind of hurt locker that it hasn’t seen in 3 generations. The writing’s been on the wall for years, but Uncle keeps ignoring it, and when the crunch finally comes, it will get very ugly in this country.
If it comes to that, I wouldn’t be surprised to learn in the aftermath (if I’m still alive, that is; we’re talking revolution and chaos, here) that quite a few old scores were settled like what happened in the madness in NOLA after Katrina. And with 20 million people who’ve been the subject of DrugWarrior ‘compassion’, it’ll be the perfect time for those so inclined to return the now-vulnerable DrugWarriors warm ‘affections’.
